Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) designated cancer centre in the South of Ireland, with a robust cancer clinical trials unit. Cancer Trials Cork at CUH has been in operation for close to two decades, serving a geographically diverse population of 1.2 million in the South. Our broad portfolio encompasses phase 1-3 therapeutic trials in haematologic/solid malignancies, radiation therapy and surgery, including academic collaborative trials via Cancer Trials Ireland, and industry trials, with a developing portfolio of investigator-initiated trials (IITs). Cancer Trials Cork at CUH is a member site of the UCC Cancer Trials Group.

Data Managers

Research Assistant/Data Managers

Salary €29,275 – €39,158

As a summary, the role will include:

  • Providing assistance in conducting research activities, including planning, organising, conducting, and communicating research studies.
  • Management of data in the oncology clinical trials unit at CUH (Cancer Trials Cork). Review, computerisation, cleaning and auditing of clinical data and databases in compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Ensuring data is accurate and consistent before it is passed on to the study team for analysis.
  • Presenting information on research progress and outcomes.
  • Providing guidance as required to any support staff and/or research students assisting with the research project
  • This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, organisation and an awareness of time management.

CNM1

Clinical Nurse Manager 1

Salary €51,933 – €61,160

The primary role of the CNM1 will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the oncology clinical trials unit nursing team, including the development of nursing staff by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses where this is appropriate..

The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 is a team leader who works in close liaison with the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to facilitate high quality nursing care within a defined clinical area (management of Clinical Trials in association with Oncology Unit nurses). He/She will act as a resource person facilitating and advising staff, patients and relatives, under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Managers 2/3 (clinical research roles).

In accordance with OCTU policy the Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will plan, organise and supervise all activities as delegated by the Clinical Nurse Managers 2/3. Close co-operation with the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 and effective communication with members of both the immediate and extended clinical teams will enable the provision of an effectively managed Clinical Research Trial.
